Boat Fire Response Fox Lake

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, including our recreational patrol deputy, responded along with the Fox Lake Fire Department to a report of a boat on fire on Fox Lake.

Shortly before 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2026, numerous 911 callers reported a boat fully engulfed in fire on Fox Lake, in the town of Fox Lake.  Callers reported the occupants were able to jump from the boat and were picked up by other boaters.  The boat was towed to shore by the fire department, where the fire was extinguished and the boat later removed from the lake by a tow company.

There were no indications the occupants’ actions or inactions had any causation of the fire.  The boat had been purchased the previous day and was operated legally by a juvenile-aged male and his three juvenile-aged passengers, one of whom was the owner of the boat.  No injuries were reported by any of the occupants.  An onboard fire extinguisher had been used in an attempt to extinguish the fire, but it was not successful.

Also responding to the incident were the Fox Lake Police Department, Fox Lake EMS, and Randolph EMS.

Questions may be directed to Sheriff Dale J. Schmidt.
