Recreation Division

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office patrols the county's roads as well as the county's trails and waterways.

On the water
The boating season for the Sheriff’s Office is typically April through October. Patrol areas included the Rock River, Horicon Marsh, Lake Sinissippi, Beaver Dam Lake, Fox Lake, Lost Lake and Lake Emily. During the boat patrol season, the Sheriff’s Office often handles citizen complaints and takes a proactive approach to directed patrol on our waterways.

On the trails
ATV patrol is conducted year-round and includes patrolling Dodge County’s 20 miles of the Wild Goose State Trail. and directed patrol enforcement for those operating illegally on roadways/trails and private property not open to the public or on state highways. With ATVs and UTVs able to operate on many of Dodge County's roads as allowable by state and local laws, enforcement of rules is handled both on and off trail by routine patrol deputies as well as our recreation division.

Snowmobile Season
Although snowmobile season is often short in Dodge County, deputies and WIDNR Wardens frequently up to provide a presence and enforce snowmobile regulations on the trails and lakes. Dodge County has 500 miles of publicly and privately funded trails and the Dodge County Sheriff's Office works proactively with the WIDNR, local clubs and the Dodge County Parks Division to ensure a safe and enjoyable season for all.

Community Outreach
Outside of regular patrols, proactive enforcement of rules and regulations and responding to accidents, the Recreation Division also participates in education events and specialized training for other law enforcement officers.
